Celebrating the industry’s best at the 2019 Scottish Hotel Awards
30th April 2019
On Sunday 28 April the Scottish Hotel Awards Gala Dinner took place at the Crown Plaza in Glasgow and we were delighted to be the headline sponsor of the event for the second consecutive year.
At Criton, we help accommodation providers increase revenue and enhance the guest experience and it was a great pleasure for us to celebrate the very best of the Scottish hospitality industry along with old and new friends.
The glamorous event welcomed over 450 guests from across the sector and was hosted by Carol Smillie, who did a fabulous job of hosting the most important evening in the Scottish hotelier calendar.
In between the many hoteliers who left the Crown Plaza holding a prize for their hard work and commitment to providing the best possible experience to their guests, we were particularly delighted to celebrate the win of our clients:
- Nira Caledonia - Boutique Hotel of the Year
- Auchrannie Resort - Outdoor Pursuits Hotel of the Year
- Balbirnie House - Wedding Hotel of the Year
- Laura Hood, Dunstane Houses – Housekeeper of the Year
- Crieff Hydro - Family Hotel of the Year
The evening concluded with the Fellowship for Contribution to the Scottish Hospitality Industry. This was awarded to Gordon McIntyre, associate dean of Hospitality and Tourism at City of Glasgow College.
As the Scottish tourism industry goes from strength to strength, with visitor numbers up 17% since 2011 and a constantly increasing visitor spend, an authentic and high-quality guest experience underpins the success of the Scottish sector, which is worth celebrating.
The evening was full of excitement, ending at 11.15pm with all awards announced, but the party didn't end there, with dancing and music continued until 2 am, it was certainly a night to remember!
